1. Beng Mealea Temple
We have begun our day with a visit to Beng Mealea, a hidden jungle temple located about 70 km from Siem Reap. Built in the 12th century, this mysterious temple has been mostly untouched by restoration, giving us a real sense of discovery. We have explored collapsed corridors, ancient carvings, and overgrown stone structures that make Beng Mealea one of the most adventurous temples in Cambodia.
2. Phnom Kulen National Park
• Preah Ang Thom (Reclining Buddha)
We have visited Preah Ang Thom, home to an 8-meter-long reclining Buddha carved into a giant sandstone boulder. This is a highly sacred site for Cambodians, and we’ve had the chance to observe or join locals in making offerings and receiving blessings.
• River of 1000 Lingas
We have walked along a shallow part of the river where ancient carvings of lingas, yonis, and the figure of Vishnu have appeared on the riverbed and surrounding stones. This river holds spiritual significance and has been a peaceful place to reflect and take photos.
• Kulen Waterfall
We have continued to the beautiful Kulen Waterfall, one of the highlights of the day. There are two main falls:
• The first waterfall is about 4–5 meters tall and 25 meters wide in the rainy season.
• The second waterfall is larger—15–20 meters high and around 15 meters wide.
Here, we have had the chance to swim and relax in the cool, refreshing water. Surrounded by lush greenery, it has been a great spot to cool off and enjoy nature.
• Peng Chruonh (Amazing Cliff)
We have made a stop at Peng Chruonh, a scenic viewpoint located on the ridge of Kulen Mountain. Just a short walk from the main road, it has offered peaceful surroundings and panoramic views of the forest and hills.
Stop for Lunch
After enjoying the waterfall, we have stopped for lunch at a local restaurant nearby. This has been a great time to rest and recharge before continuing the journey.
3. Banteay Srei Temple
After lunch, we have visited Banteay Srei, one of the most beautifully carved temples in Cambodia. Dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, this 10th-century temple has amazed us with its intricate red sandstone carvings, many of which are still in excellent condition. Often referred to as the “jewel of Khmer art,” Banteay Srei has provided a perfect opportunity for photos and appreciation of Khmer craftsmanship.
4. Preah Dak Village
We have ended our day at Preah Dak Village, a small but charming local community known for its clean environment and eco-friendly efforts. Here, we have tasted the village’s famous steamed palm cakes, a sweet local dessert made from palm sugar and rice flour—a delicious way to finish the tour.
End of Tour – Drop-off in Siem Reap
